Common causes for this symptom.
-
Damper door motor failed.
The motorized flap that opens to push cold air into the fridge has stopped, so cold stays trapped in the freezer.
-
Evaporator fan motor failed.
The fan in the freezer that pushes air toward the fridge no longer spins. Common on units 5–7 years old.
-
Thermistor at the wrong temperature.
The temperature sensor in the fridge compartment is reading wrong, so the unit thinks it does not need cooling.
-
Control board fault.
The main board is no longer signaling the damper or fan to run. Less common, but seen on Samsung, LG, and integrated Sub-Zero units.
