How a fridge repair actually goes when you call us.
Booking, diagnosis, fix, warranty — written down so there are no surprises.
Step 1: You book.
Phone is fastest. Online is honest. Text confirmation within 10 minutes.
- (a) Pick your symptom from /problems/, or just call (949) 969-8600. Most people start with the symptom: not cooling, leaking water, ice maker stuck. The symptom page funnels into the booking widget with the right pre-fill.
- (b) Tell us your ZIP code and a 3-hour window that works. Same & next-day across all 30 OC cities, Mon–Sun 8am–7pm. If your ZIP is outside our area we tell you on the call before we book — no wasted trip charges.
- (c) Confirm by text within 10 minutes. The confirmation text has the date and the window we agreed on. Reply with anything you want us to know — gate codes, dog warnings, where to park.
- (d) If we get held up at a previous job, we text you a new ETA — never silence. Fridge repair runs over sometimes. The honest move is a heads-up. We aim for the original window, but a real repair beats a rushed one.
Step 2: We diagnose.
The $65 diagnostic, the written quote, and what waived really means.
The diagnostic is $65, paid by card or Zelle when we arrive. If you say yes to the repair, we waive the diagnostic — you only pay the repair cost. If you say no, you pay $65 and we leave with no further charge.
Before we touch a screw, we hand you a written quote with the diagnosis, the parts, the labor, and the total. You sign it or you don’t. Nothing gets opened, swapped, or charged without your signature.
What the $65 covers.
- In-home diagnosis by a fridge-only technician (not a generalist).
- A written quote with the part numbers and the labor split.
- An honest call on whether the repair makes sense — see /repair-vs-replace/.
What we don’t charge for.
- The first phone call.
- The window estimate or the confirmation text.
- A second trip fee on multi-visit repairs (parts ordered, see Step 3).
Step 3: We fix.
Parts on the truck. First-visit fix when we can.
Most of our repairs finish on the first visit. The trucks carry defrost heaters, thermistors, evaporator and condenser fan motors, common control boards, dampers, and the gaskets and screws that hold the rest of it together.
Compressor and sealed-system jobs may need a follow-up the next business day if parts have to be ordered. We don’t charge a second trip fee — the quote you signed at Step 2 covers the whole repair, even if it takes two visits.
First-visit common fixes.
- Defrost system rebuilds (heater + thermistor + bimetal).
- Evaporator and condenser fan motor swaps.
- Damper and mullion replacements.
- Door gaskets and ice-maker assemblies.
Multi-visit jobs.
- Compressor and linear-inverter replacements (Sub-Zero, LG).
- Full sealed-system rebuilds with refrigerant recharge.
- OEM control boards on premium built-ins (lead time 1–3 days).
Warranty, in plain English.
If the part we replaced fails or the labor we performed was wrong, we come back and fix it on us. That’s the whole sentence. The details below are just the edge cases.
3 months
Parts and labor.
Every standard repair is warrantied for 3 months on both the part and the labor. If it breaks again on the same fault, we come back at no charge.
6–12 months
Compressor and sealed-system work.
Compressor swaps and sealed-system rebuilds carry a 6-month labor warranty and the manufacturer’s parts warranty (typically 12 months on the compressor itself).
Read the full terms.
What’s covered.
- The exact part we replaced, on the same fault, within the warranty window.
- The labor required to re-do the work.
- A return visit at no diagnostic fee if the same symptom comes back.
What’s not covered.
- Customer abuse — overloading, slamming, dropping items into the unit.
- Power surges, brownouts, lightning damage, and outages.
- A different part failing on a different fault (e.g., we replaced the defrost heater, the compressor fails 2 months later — that’s a separate repair).
- Damage caused by other appliances or by improper installation predating our visit.
- Cosmetic damage (scuffs, dents, paint).
Warranty is documented on the invoice you receive after the repair. Save the invoice — it’s the proof. If the unit needs warranty service, call (949) 969-8600 and reference the invoice number.
Pricing, no mystery.
The diagnostic is a flat $65, waived with the repair. Below are real ranges for the most common in-home fixes. The exact number lands in the written quote you sign before any work starts.
- Defrost system (heater + thermistor)
- $250–$400
- Evaporator or condenser fan motor
- $250–$450
- Damper / mullion
- $200–$350
- Compressor (sealed-system, includes refrigerant)
- $700–$1,500
- Control board
- $400–$700
- Ice maker assembly
- $300–$550
Final price is in the written quote you sign before any work starts. Premium built-ins (Sub-Zero, Viking, Thermador, Monogram) can run higher because of OEM parts and access time — your quote will reflect it.
What we won’t do.
We don’t service RV fridges or wine cellars over 200 bottles — we’ll refer you to a specialist.
We do service commercial reach-ins, walk-in coolers, and walk-in freezers — see /commercial/.
For laundry, ovens, dishwashers, or anything else in your kitchen — that’s our sister shop, Esquire Appliance Repair.
Ready when you are.
