Common causes for this symptom.
-
Defrost heater failed.
Frost has overwhelmed the evaporator coil and the heater that is supposed to melt it cyclically is dead.
-
Sealed-system leak.
The refrigerant has leaked out and the compressor cannot make cold. Sealed-system work is on the higher end of the price range and may need next-day parts.
-
Compressor or relay failure.
The compressor is not running, or the start relay has failed. Often a quick fix when the relay is the culprit.
-
Thermistor / temperature sensor.
The unit thinks it is already cold enough and stops cooling. A small sensor that is cheap and fast to replace.
