Kenmore refrigerators are built by three different manufacturers, and the model prefix on the data plate tells us which one. The 795 prefix is LG-built, the 106 prefix is Whirlpool-built, the 253 prefix is Frigidaire-built. The repair path branches completely depending on the build, which is why we ask for the model number on every job before the truck rolls — a Kenmore 795 fault is an LG linear inverter diagnosis, while a Kenmore 106 fault is a Whirlpool defrost-board diagnosis. We are an independent fridge-only shop and we service Kenmore every week.

Common Kenmore issues we see

  • 795-prefix linear inverter compressor failures (LG-built). The compressor relay clicks but never starts, or starts and fails to hold pressure. A board-level diagnosis is required before any compressor swap.

  • Control-board firmware glitches on 795-prefix Elite units. Temperature alarms cycle on without cause, the display goes intermittent.
  • Door-switch faults across builds. The interior light stays on, defrost cycles drift, the unit overworks to hold setpoint.
